You'd Think They Were All Dead, Or Something.

Hey world! It's been a while! But not too while-y of a while that you forgot all about me, I hope! I've had longer interludes, after all. Anyways, after accomplishing everything I set out to do by 4:00 done by 1:00, and futzing around for a bit (ahem, hour), I decided why not blog. And someone begged me to through email. Oh, the life of a celebrity. Anyways. To begin.

So, longer ago than I'd like to admit, I finished this book called The Legacy by Gemma Malley. It's the conclusion in the Declaration trilogy, and I'm not sure if I reviewed the other two on this blog or not. I'm thinking not, though, because I didn't even know this series was a trilogy, I thought it was a duology, and it totally escaped my mind until I saw this at the library and I was like, "Whaaaat?" But upon further inspection, yeah, it's a trilogy. And I have to say, the UK covers are so much prettier than the US versions. At least I'm assuming it's UK, because of the charming foreign spelling and quotation marks in the book, and the fact that it's set in London. Or maybe it's just the paperback/hardcover thing. There's an Amazon link, but no audible.

Summaryish: When Longevity appears to simply stop working, and the Underground finds a disturbing and unexpected cargo in a lorry they ambush, things start going haywire. Anna, who thought she was finally safe, finds herself thrown back into the chaos of the Resistance, along with her beloved Peter, her daughter, and little brother. Short summary, but it's been a while, I'm out of practice.

Review: So, at first I was just like, blah blah blah, yadda yadda yadda, can we move on please? And that feeling lasted for a really long while. But I stayed strong and powered through, and the ending was mostly worth it. There was plenty of suspense and rising action, foreshadowing and the like, but I would have liked a lot more action. The ending was also pretty predictable, although there was a twist. Perhaps the predictability was a result of the foreshadowing I mentioned. It wasn't cliché, so you don't have to worry about that. But, all-in-all, it was a good book, but I don't think I'd like to read it again.

Words to the Characters:

Anna: Dear, you didn't really think that, did you? No. You didn't. I admire your hope.

Peter: What is this? You don't just do that!!! Yeesh!

Okay, now I'm only about two or three books behind. See you later, bye bye!

It's A Sammich With Apple Juice.

Hey world! So I'm eating lunch, and I thought it would be a good idea to blog while doing so. But I'm starting to think it's not, considering the amount of mayonnaise getting on my keyboard. The chips are a little stale, too, but that has nothing to do with book reviews. I'm also doing something else in the background that requires my headphones with half of my attention, so just as a headsup, I will not be sampling the audible today, despite the fact that it most likely has nifty affected British accents. I don't know what it is about the word British, but I always want to spell it with two Ts instead of one. Weird. Moving on!

So, a while ago, but I'm getting caught up, I finished this book called BZRK: Reloaded by Michael Grant. It is book two in the BZRK series, the first one to which I reviewed just a few books ago, so you can scroll down and see that review, or just hang out here where I will hand out neat Amazon links, but not tell you a single thing about the audible. There is a dog trying to eat my stale chips. Rude.

Summaryish: Go away now if you haven't read the first BZRK. Not that I don't love you, or anything, you just can't read this. After the events of BZRK, Vincent, short one biot, isn't doing so well in the sanity department. In addition, The Twins, or at least Benjamin, want revenge on Sadie after she ruthlessly wired him. All the while, Bug Man and Burnofsky are dealing with their own troubles regarding the newly wired president. Not a very good summaryish, but oh well.

Review: Yay!!! This book was just as good as the first one, if not a little bit better. I absolutely love the committed detail and the way something that seems so trivial can have such a huge impact on the story. It really is written well, and the fun fight scenes don't hurt either. My fingers cramped up I was gripping the book so hard. It's a book that leaves your mind racing and your adrenalin rushing long after you put it down! It's amazing the way Mr. Grant writes his book so that you have sympathy even for the villains...brava.

Words to the Characters:

Bug Man: And suddenly, I like you a whole lot more.

Sadie: I was screaming at you to tell him. I was sad you couldn't hear me.

Okay, wow, this is a short post, but I'll be back soon for something that might be a little longer.

It's Herbal Lemongrass - Teatulia.

Hey world! It's tea time, so I thought I'd blog while eating. It's been a while since I've blogged, hasn't it? But, I said a few posts ago that I'm stopping with the apologies, and that's exactly what I'm doing. You can just forgive me on your own time. Ooo! Ahh! Tea's too hot! WAY too hot!! Ahhh! Thank goodness I had some yogurt handy! I'm going to get on with this post before I kill myself.

So, a few days ago, or probably more like a week, I finished this book called The Vindico by Wesley King. It is Mr. King's first novel, and the first novel in a six book series. The second book is already out, but I'm not sure about the others, though. His website doesn't appear to be often updated, since the second book is no where to be found. Unless of course, there's a secret hidden website of which I am unaware. My tea is almost gone...What am I going to do? Just finish this tomorrow? Well, I'll give you the Amazon link and go from there.

Summaryish: The tea is still holding up, so I think I have enough time to tell you that this book is about five kids who are kidnapped by aging but still evil supervillains to be taught as apprentices. Or proteges, as the book itself says. But these kids don't want to be villains...or do they? What if the intense learning program of the Vindico's school awakes in them something they never knew they possessed. Because they all have skills...and they all want revenge. But against whom? The people who tormented them in their past lives, or the villains who took them out of it?

Review: Still have tea, maybe I'll be able to finish this review after all. Okay, so, this book was pretty good (and evil - ha!). But, I don't know, I think I was expecting something a bit more funny, and for some reason I was disappointed. I went into the book expecting something like Emperor Mollusk, but got something more like a Michael Carroll. It was still a good book, and there were a lot of funny moments, and the...I just lost my train of thought. Anyways, there was action, and a touch of mystery, along with suspense, but also a little bit of boring mixed in. All-in-all, the book is okay, and I'm going to read the rest of the series, but it's not an aching desire to read more, you know?

Words to the Characters:

Woops, I just ran out of tea. Bye now!

The Irony Is Killing Me.

Hey world! I guess the marathon is over after all, considering I didn't blog yesterday. Totally messed up my groove. But I'm here today! Maybe we can pretend that yesterday never even happened and still call it a marathon...No, that would be dishonest, and this is an "honest review" site. So yeah. We'll just start a new marathon, one that will only last a few books. Three or four or something. Wow, I love blogging! It's just so much fun! Everyone should have a blog! Now I'm going to use mine!

So, the book I'm reviewing today is actually in this library trip, so we're getting closer and closer to being all caught up! Oh, it's called Emblaze and it's the third book in the Violet Eden chapters by Jessica Shirvington, the person from whom I won a book in a contest and still haven't received. Nicely accented audible, though. But you can find that out for yourself by following this Amazon link.

Summaryish: Remember, if you haven't read the others in the series, we'll meet up in the next paragraph. In the third installment of Violet's life, she's still reeling from the duel in Jordan. Phoenix is in possession of the Grigori Scripture, and he'll do anything to get his hands on the one Violet has. OH MY GOSH PEOPLE THE BOOK CAME IN THE MAIL! IT'S HERE! IT'S HERE! I'M A WINNER! It's kind of ironic because I'm reviewing a book by the author of the book I won, and in the last paragraph said I haven't received it yet. Ha. Anyways...So, she and Pheonix arrange a trade, things go wrong, blah blah blah, LILITH! Okay, that's about it.

Review:: It has a pretty cover, this book I won. But anyways. I have to say, this book (the one I'm reviewing, not winning) is the best in the series so far! Now that everyone's past most of the romance stuff, the action and suspense are finally more prevalent, for which I am grateful. Give me a good explosion over a kiss any day. And without all that stuff I had to skip, I was able to more easily connect to the story. Every second I wasn't reading, I was thinking about the book, wondering what was going on, plotting how to get out of whatever I was doing that was keeping me from the book, contemplating malingering but eventually rejecting that idea. All in all, it was a great book!

Words to the Characters:

Violet: I'm happy that you're changing. You used to be this bratty selfish chick, but now you're getting better. That didn't sound mean did it?

Phoenix: I know I was just complaining about the romance in the earlier books, but I just want you to know that I like you better than that other guy.

Okay, maybe I'll see you tomorrow, but maybe not. The marathon is over after all...Bye!

Make Your Own Title Eerily Similar to My Last One Here.

Hey world! I guess the marathon is continuing after all! Welcome to day...uhh...five. Six....Five. Fiveorsix. Welcome to day fiveorsix! Announcement: Zoraida Cordova is having a blog tour for her new book about which I am sosososo excited, and I've signed up to be a part of it! I might get the chance to review the ARC! Might being the keyword - I still don't know.  But it's still very exciting. And, hey, I've recently won a contest (still haven't gotten my signed book in the mail even though in four days it will be a month) so maybe I'll win this. In other news, we ran out of sugar and in case you're wondering, sugar substitutes have this weird sour ending - like a Sour Patch Kid in reverse - and thus, lots of honey is needed in your tea, and even then it's not entirely awesome. Just saying.

So, we're getting closer and closer to the present every day now so it actually wasn't that long ago that I finished this book called Teardrop by Lauren Kate. It is the first book in the Teardrop series, although the second book isn't out yet, but I think it will soon. In addition, I'm under the impression that Mrs. Kate's other series is being made into a movie. I'm thinking about reading it, but I'm not sure because it's described as darkly romantic, but also dangerously exciting, so it's not clear. Ooo, I better hurry with this review, somethings about to happen! Amazon link, okay audible.

Summaryish: Eureka never ever cries. Ever. But now, with a boy who's been stalking her for her entire life finally makes an appearance, she comes closer to crying than she ever has before. Then it gets interesting. Her inheritance from her recently deceased mother only complicates things as mysteries are revealed and her whole life is shaken. I'm in a hurry now, so you're going to have to deal with that not-so-great summaryish.

Review: I didn't have great expectations for this book (hey, that's another book), that's why it was at the bottom of my pile! But I am so happy that I was completely wrong. This turned out to be a captivating and mystifying read of absolutely epic proportions. I just found out I have 15 minutes left until the thing happened. Huh. Life is hilarious that way. Back to the review. It had excitement balanced with just the right amount of almost irking suspense. Oh, and here's something you might find interesting - I was totally convinced for the last hundred pages that I knew exactly how it was going to end and then...it didn't happen. Entirely. It happened mostly, but the biggest part of my prediction was totally (thankfully, I would have been so mad!) wrong. Okay, next section.

Words to the Characters:

Eureka: Where in the world did you get a name like that? I'm not criticizing, I actually like it, but - wow I was typing so fast my fingers are tingling. (ADHD)

Ander: Okay, I understand completely, but it's still incredibly creepy.

Brooks: Yeah, didn't see THAT coming! (Not)

Okay, maybe I'll see you tomorrow for day sixorseven or maybe not. Either way, the next review will be embraceable. Bye!

But You Won't Get To See The Tears I Cry...Behind the Angel Eyes.

Hey world! And, I'm here on a Sunday! Woo! At the end of this post, I will have met my goal for the blog marathon! And since I have...uhh...three(?) books to review, which may or may not include this one, the marathon can continue further! Oh, another announcement: Wayne Thomas Batson's new book Dreamtreaders is coming out on the sixth, and he's having an Amazon blitz, the more who buy, the more prizes are going to be given out! If you're thinking oo Wayne Thomas Batson, or, oo Dreamtreaders, or oo prizes, you can follow this link I'm so politely giving you to learn more!

So, about a week ago I finished this book called Angel Eyes by Shannon Dittemore. It is the first book in the Angel Eyes trilogy, and there's also a short free on Shan's website that you can read on your computer or your e-reader. Hmm...I'm not crazy about the audible, though, the lady reading it stretches her vowels a little too far. But you can decide that for yourself by clicking this Amazon link.

Summaryish: Brielle's dream of becoming a ballerina (I know, sounds like a cheesy romance-drama so far, but it gets better) is shattered when something terrible happens to her. Her life is further flipped upside down with the arrival of a new boy in town...who has a deeply hidden secret that involves her. And when a realm of angels and demons becomes visible to her, she knows her life will never be the same...but is the change for the better, or the worse? That wasn't a very good summary. But I tried.

Review: So, I was a little put off by the cheesy ballerina thing at first too, and the beginning felt a little mleh. But as I read more, I got deeper into the story. I felt the tense building of the story right down to my capillaries, and, continuing with my blood analogy, I'm surprised I didn't have some sort of aneurysm when everything finally exploded in this awesome firework display of wonder. And, yeah, that's pretty much my review. It was a great book full of excitement and suspense and the characters were actually people to me.

Words to the Characters:

Brielle: You cry a lot. Maybe you should keep a handkerchief in your sleeve or something. Just saying.

Jake: Okay, not the best way to tell that to a girl. In fact, that wasn't smart at all. Flashmobs are the best way to go. Remember that for later.

Okay, we have officially ended the blog marathon, but it might continue for a few days anyway!

Recently, It's Been 2048.

Hey world! I haven't forgotten you yet! Woopdeedoo! What day is this? Four maybe? Three? Well, my goal is to make it for about three more books, but we'll see. Hey, maybe in three days I'll have to extend it to five! I wonder how long this marathon is actually going to last. Maybe  forever! You know, that reminds me. I haven't had a blog series in a while. Sad. Anyways, I've just remembered which book I'm reviewing, so I'm going to get started!

So, a week and two days ago (Oi!) I finished this book called Mind Games by Kiersten White. And, oh! Would you look at that! It's a series! Book two just came out in February, how fun! And there's also a short, too, nice! The audible is surprisingly good, nicely inflected and emotional. Ooo, the sun just came out! So bright and warm and pretty. A nice setting for an Amazon link. Aw, back behind a cloud again.

Summaryish: Fia and Annie have certain special abilities that brought them to the attention of a secret, sinister organization that wishes to exploit these talents for their own nefarious purposes. (I really love the word nefarious.) Fia, a girl with perfect instincts, is there only because they have her sister, a seer, locked up. But when Fia refuses to kill someone, she must put her skills to the test as she tries to hide her secrets and get out of the evil school once and for all.

Review: I felt like I wasn't going to like this book. It just looked a little...eh. But then I started actually reading, and found out just how wrong I was. This book took me less than 24 hours to complete, but every one of them was absolutely glorious! Not only was it exciting, but the way it was written was beautiful. Some things could have been reinforced a little bit to get a little more emotion out of me, but that small detail was overlook-able simply because the book was so awesome! Huzzah huzzah, two thumbs up, rock out, and goodbye.

Words to the Characters:

Fia: I'm crazy too, it's all good. Just remember to breathe, that's the most important thing.

Annie: I'd say something to you, but you're blind and it would take forever for your text-to-speech to translate.

Okay, see you hopefully tomorrow, but Sunday tripped me up last time...

I Don't Know About You, But I Was Definitely On Fire.

Hey world! I woke up kind of early today and did everything I wanted to have done by lunch time done by, like, 9:40, and after wandering around looking for something to do, I remembered that I'm having a blog marathon! So here I am, carrying the moment you've all been waiting for in my pocket. But I'm going to make you wait for it. I'm just going to stretch out this paragraph as long as I can, while you sink deeper and deeper into suspenseful agony, perhaps never to come out of that deep pit for hours and hours before I release you from that captivity with the key only I hold...the power to press the enter key.

So, the wait is over, I finished Ignite Me by Taherah Mafi a little more than a week ago. It is the conclusion in the Shatter Me trilogy, and what an ending it is! More on that later. There are two novellas in this series published separately as ebooks, but also published together in paperback. (Boy, do I want that paperback! [I like gifts, by the way]). Bet you want the Amazon link, huh? You've probably been dying for it! Nice audible, although I always imagined her voice just a touch deeper.

Summaryish: You know the rules, don't you dare read this if you haven't read the other two in the series! After the total crushing of Omega Point, Juliette awakes to find herself in Warner's room. Worse - in his bed! But that's the least of her problems, her whole world has fallen apart, and she doesn't know if her friends are alive or dead. And she wants revenge on the person who did all this to her. She will stop at nothing before kills the person who killed her, and by doing so, she might discover sides of herself (and Warner - oo!) that she never knew existed.

Review: Whoa snap. You can tell this is a good book because the audible is, like, over 20 dollars. The whole world held its breath for this book, and now that it's over, the world isn't breathing for a completely different reason. I wish there were more, I wish it never had to end. But it did. It ended in exactly the way I wanted it to. There's something disappointing in that. But anyways, this book was so riveting and exciting that I barely had time to turn the pages. Whooooaooaoaoaoaaa.

Words to the Characters:

Juliette: While I miss the fainty, squealy, poetic girl you used to be, I can't help but be proud of the person you've become.

Warner: Did you know I'm on Team Warner? Usually, I totally ignore all the romantic stuff, but this time I just had to cast my vote.

Snap. What am I going to do this afternoon now? Oh well. Maybe I'll post twice, maybe I'll read right through. See you next time I see you for some psychotic craziness!

This Has Nothing To Do With Vikings.

Hey world! Ha! I came back! You can't hold that over me now! I would have been back sooner, but I ran out of books, so I had to go to the library where I spent 35 minutes, and then I had to eat lunch, and then I had to organize the nine books I checked out, which I just finished doing and now I'm here! Hurray! And lookie there, not a single apology to be found in this whole paragraph.

So, a while ago I finished this book called BZRK by Michael Grant, and this book is actually the reason my last marathon wasn't so successful. Funny story about this book: I accidentally checked out the second book in the trilogy before ever even reading this one. I had to return that and two other books without reading them the same library visit (I was in a rush that week). You know what makes it even funnier? I just checked out book two again today! So, I'm reviewing the book the sequel for which I have now checked out twice. Ha. Anyways, I'm sure you want some Amazon action. Nice audible, by the way, nicely articulated. Kind of gravely, though. Ooo! The reader used an affected but fun accent!

Summaryish: It's finally happened. Nanobots are so advanced they are semi-safe for installing in humans. But they're still secret. So secret, there is only a handful of people who know about them. Well, two handfuls really. And these handfuls hate each other. Unknowingly, the human body has become a battle ground between the Armstrong Fancy Gifts Corporation, who are trying to take over the whole world with their nanobots to make it peaceful...by taking away free will and creative thought, and the less official team of BZRK, who appose them.

Review: (After a brief music break.) Wowzers! From the very first chapter, I was so deeply into the story that its grip won't release me even now, almost a week (or is it two?) later. Luckily, it's a trilogy! It was riveting and chilling and absolutely fabulous! It's easy to read in just one sitting, but you don't dare do that, because then it would be over. It's one of those books where in the final-fifty-stretch you slow down just to squeeze a little more time out of it. Brava, brava, let's all clap in unison to get our needed encore.

Words to the Characters:

Keats + Plath:  Why did I see that coming from the very beginning? Oh yeah, because it's predictable!

Bug Man: Admit it....you need a little help.

Okay, see you tomorrow for a surprise!

I'm Terrified of Bees.

Hey world! So...I didn't come back on Sunday. Or Monday or Tuesday. But that's not my fault! Okay it's my fault...I feel like this paragraph is spent apologizing more than anything else...well, not anymore! I'm done apologizing! I'll blog when I blog, and that's that! Deal with it! Oh my goodness, that sounded so harsh, I'm so sorry.

So, a very long time ago, but we are getting closer to the present every day now, I finished a short book called Aftershock by Mark Walden. It's either book 6,7 or 8 in the H.I.V.E. (Higher Institute of Villainous Education) series, and I've had it on hold since August! But I finally read it, and now this Amazon link can make reading it possible for you, too. Snap, I dropped my squishy ball-thing. Anyways, I'm listening to something else now, so no testing of the audible. Wow, I haven't tested those in a while.

Summaryish: I'm not going to summarize the whole series here, that would take a long time. But if you like what you read here, you can of course go look up a series overview elsewhere. Perhaps give another blogger a pageview! Anyways. In his third year at H.I.V.E., Otto Malpense and co. are gearing up for the most looked forward to event of the year. No, not exams, but I can see why you may have thought that. They're getting ready for the field mission. 24 hours in a ruthless terrain with a skilled hunter on their heels...but things go terrible wrong as the former council members from G.L.O.V.E. plot their revenge against Dr. Nero....Don don dooon!

Review: I was really looking forward to this book because I have very pleasant memories of colorful explosions and gunfire...and I wasn't disappointed! There was plenty of action, and it was nicely balanced with calm interludes of suspense and subplot. But, as I've noticed with this entire series, it was really easy to just tune out and think about butterflies. Well, maybe not butterflies, but you get the point. It's almost as if some of the book is simply white noise...a background theme song accompanying my plans to take over the world...I mean, ahem, make tea.

Words to the Characters:

Otto: Jealousy is bad for me, stop being awesome.

Raven: Ooo, I know your history now! Mwahahaha! BLACKMAIL!

Okay, that's done. Maybe this will be the start of another marathon. I might even make it to four days this time. Bye now! See you next time for...uhm...yeah, let me get back to you on that one.

I'm Happy It's Not Just Me Falling Now.

Hey world! Three days was a pretty good streak, no? The problem is, I was reading all day Sunday and I pinky swear, blogging never once crossed my mind. And then of course it was Monday...But now I'm back after a week, and I have six books to review! I think I'm going to review either two or three of them today, and then we'll see what happens after that. Rest assured, they will all get reviewed.

So, longer ago than I'd like to admit, I finished this book called Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe. It is not part of a series, but it is what some people would call "a classic." I think it was written sometime about half way through the nineteen hundreds. I'm trying to hurry, because Titanic is playing in the background, so I'm not sampling the audible, but I will give you this Amazon link as a little "parting from this paragraph" present.

Summaryish: This book is all about the life and times of the Ibo clan in Nigeria, both before and after colonization took over and destroyed the culture forever. Specifically, it's about Okonkwo, a brave and fierce warrior consumed by the fear of being seen as lazy. And, as the title hints, things definitely fall apart. Short paragraph, but it's a short book, too.

Review: At first I was thinking 'Bleh, I don't like this style, nor is the story very interesting, when will it end?' But later, I really got in to it and learned to appreciate all that was going on. Further more, I discovered that the diction was quite nice too. Liking this book is just a matter of getting used to it, and once you do, you can delve deeper and figure out what exactly this book is trying to say, because it's definitely screaming something in your ear! Figuring out the message is half the fun of reading this book! Be warned - it's not an easy read, but it's a good one.

Words to the Characters:

Okonkwo: Dude, really, it's not the end of the world if for just one moment, you...oo! The steerage dance party scene is coming on! Gotta dance...

Ikemefuna: That was fun. Anywayyyyyys, that was really sad, I'm sorry.

Okay, see you later, I'll probably post after the sink ships. Bye for now!

Sorry, Spellcheck, But That Word Actually Is Spelled Correctly.

Hey world! I almost forgot to write this...but then I remembered! We are now up to day three of the blog blitz! Woohoo! And three is a magic number, you know. I just realized that I say that a lot. I have an odd love of the number three and its many multiples...perhaps one of the reasons I love trilogies? But now I'm ready to review this book that took me sooo long to read!

So, it took me a while to finish Anathem by Neal Stephenson, but I did it! I wanted to get Cryptonomicon, but I couldn't find that one. So when I saw this book I thought I might as well split the difference and read something by the same author. This guy wrote Reamde which got glowing reviews on this blog sometime last year, maybe November. This book is not part of a series, but it is the third book over 930 pages to be reviewed by me! Accomplishment! And it only took me exactly two weeks. Hopefully it won't take two weeks for the Amazon link to load...

Summaryish: I'm going to start by saying that this is a different planet. Might as well just get that out in the open right off the bat. And on this planet, half of the world is modern and movey-forwardy, while the other half is a closed-off realm run by beautifully logical theorics. But big things are about to go down, and Fraa Erasmas is right smack in the middle of it.

Review: This book was mostly awesometastic! There were some boring parts where I felt like I was just reading a text book...but I still vaguely enjoyed those parts, too. Mr. Stephenson definitely unleashed his inner Vulcan for this book - logic, first contact, it was classic science fiction, and I loved it! It was a bit of a tough read, but I feel like a lot of the enjoyment is in the challenge. So, despite some over-lookable boring parts, this book was absolutely wonderful! Yay!

Words to the Characters:

Erasmas: Very noble. You have my 100% approval.

Arsibalt: You make me laugh!

Okie dokie, day three - check. See you tomorrow!

It's More Like 4:30 Now.

Hey world! So far, I am keeping my promise of a blog blitz! But then again, it's only day two of, what? Five? I think so far it's five, because I finished a book last night, and then three days from now is plenty of time to finish the book I've just started, so maybe it will even be six. Or is that seven? Mental counting....Yeah, it's six now. But maybe it will be seven - which is a whole week! Wouldn't that be fun!? Let's try that! Okay, blogging now!

So, I've already returned this book called 3:59 by Gretchen McNeil, but that doesn't mean I don't remember it. I'm not sure if it's a series or not, but I'm leaning more towards not due to lack of marketing of that little fact. Or maybe it's because on her website it says stuff about debuting her first series sometime this year...sooo...yeah. I've got this lovely Amazon link here for you! Also, the audible is surprisingly good. I'm picky about my audibles...okay, I don't listen to audibles, just the samples on Amazon, but I am particular about those. Maybe I should be an audible recorder-person. Could be fun.

Summaryish: Josie's life totally flips upside down when after inexplicable events, she becomes connected to her doppleganger, Jo, in a parallel universe. Every 12 hours at, you guessed it, 3:59 for a single minute, she can see the life she's always wanted on the other side of a mirror. So when she finds out that Jo also wants to switch lives, they plan that for 24 hours, they will masquerade as each other. But when Josie is ready to leave...Jo refuses to come back. Don don dooooooon!

Review: I've heard a lot about Ms. McNeil being a "master of suspense" but what some people see as suspense building snippets of flawless foreshadowing, I see more as annoying exposition. Which lasted half the book. Not fun. So, for the first half of the book, I was bored and disinterested and mentally coaching the story to pick up a bit and get on with it. Which it finally did. Half way through the book. And by halfway, people have usually formed their opinions, so that's why this book isn't getting a, shall we say, glowing review. The final half of the book was fast, intense, and things finally got good...But the damage had already been done by then. So while I enjoyed the last half of the book, the first half forever burned boredom into my brain, and scars like that don't just go away with time and Mederma. If you're willing to suffer through the first half, the last half will be rewarding. Kind of like surviving a war to get one of those nifty medals.

Words to the Characters:

Josie: Seriously? You didn't totally see that coming?

Nick: Did you know that Nick is a very common name? I can't even count how many books I've read with Nicks as main characters - and you're in here twice!

Okay, Friday - check. We'll see if I come back tomorrow for that 900-pager you've been hearing so much about!

I Told You I'm An Alien, Right?

Hey world! So I finally finished that 932 page book yesterday, and the funny thing is, I still had two books before that to review, and then a bonus book kind of just snuck in so...Four books, woo! I'm only going to review one right now, though, because I really want to read. But I am going to try my very hardest to post four days in a row! Won't that be fun? We'll see how far I get. And by then, I'll probably have another two books to review, so maybe it can be six days in a row. I don't know though, we'll just have to see what happens!

So, a really long time ago I finished this book called Inhuman by Kat Falls. It's book one in the Fetch series! Actually, it's not a series, it's a trilogy - there's a humongous difference, you know. I'd tell you about the audible at the Amazon link,  but there isn't one. So instead, I'll regale you with a song...I'm kidding! You can't hear me, I'm just words on a screen to you! There are so many sides to my hexaflexagon, it's hypnotic. You probably don't know what a hexaflexagon is, though, few people do, so I'll just tell you something else mathematic because I'm in a numbery kind of mood today. The diagonals on Pascal's Triangle are...wait for it...Fibonacci numbers!!! Didn't that just blow your mind!?!?

Summaryish: In this future (because of course it's a future, what else would I be reading?), a killer virus that changes an infected person's DNA to that of the animal that bit them has broken out - totally desecrating everything to the east of the Mississippi River. A huge wall was built to protect those that are uninfected. But when someone very dear to Lane, our protagonist, goes missing, she must risk her life by crossing the wall to find him.

Review: This was absolutely fabulous! The very beginning, like, the first 10-15 pages or so, were a little...beginning-y, but that really couldn't be helped. Other than that, I have absolutely no complaints! Full of action, suspense, both lovable and loathable characters, twists that keep you guessing, and plenty of explosions that kept even me happy - you're sure to love this book! A little warning though: there are a few parts that are a bit...graphic. The squeamish need not apply. But I love-love-loved this book, and I absolutely cannot wait until the next one (which comes out hopefully soon! Checking....September. That's far away.)

Words to the Characters:

Lane: For some reason, I usually end up not liking female narrators because they always seem too emotional and kind of bratty sometimes, but I like you, let's be friends!

Rafe: I figured out long before Lane did. And by the way, I pronounce it Rafee, is that right?

Okay, see you tomorrow for some numbers!

Who Wants To Go Cow Tipping?

Hey world! So...it's definitely not the day I said it was going to be when I was talking about reviewing this book...a week and a half ago. But I have a reason, first of all I was busy, and then I forgot, and then I wanted to read, but more than that, I'm reading a 932 page book, and I'm just over half way done, so I thought it would be a good idea to stretch my reviews out a little. So I'll just do this one today, and later the other two I have lined up. Pretty sad, because I'm returning them today! Yikes! Review time!

So, longer ago than it should have been, I finished this book called Going Bovine by Libba Bray. It is not a series, but it is 5:27, and I have to leave soon, so I'll finish this post tomorrow. So now it's today instead of yesterday, and I just received amazing news! I won a Jessica Shirvington give away! I'm getting a free signed book! Isn't that wonderful? It will be my first signed book ever! I am sooo excited! About the book and this Amazon link! Not a very good audible, though.

Summaryish: So, Cameron is your average high school student...until he finds out he has mad cow disease. After that, and a mysterious visit from a punk-rock angel named Dulcie, he sets out on a crazy road trip with a death-obsessed dwarf and involving a smoothie-drinking happy cult, should-be-dead jazz stars and much more, in search for a cure. Wow, I sounded a lot like the jacket flap, there!

Review: This book was fantastic! It made me laugh, it made me cry...okay it didn't make me cry, but it definitely made me laugh! I loved all the craziness everywhere. It was like reading the inside of my brain, which, while organized, is still kind of wacky, and even I know it. It was fast and awesome, but even more than that - it was meaningful. But not an outright kind of meanigful. It's a sort of meaningful that you get on such a deep level that you can't explain. If not for the bad words, it so would have been a Wow. Just Wow. Sadly, there were bad words, and therefore it isn't.

Words to the Characters:

Dulcie: You're how I imagine all angels are.

Cameron: I knew it would end like that...But for some reason, it isn't disappointing.

Okay, see you next time I decide to post with something I'll probably remember later.
