Not The End of This Blog.

Hey world! Me again here for post two on this lovely Wednesday! Here we go!

Image result for enders Lissa priceSo, the day before yesterday I finished a book with the title Enders by Lissa Price. Isn't that cool? Her first name has two Ses! Anyways, this is the sequel to her debut novel, Starters, which has been published in an amazing amount of countries, and I believe Enders is in multiple countries as well. Over to the left is the US cover. Or one of them anyway. I  think, but I'm not sure, that this is where the story ends. It doesn't seem set up for another. But there are a few novellas set in this world!

Summaryish: A few months after the destruction of Prime Destinations, Callie and her brother are living in a mansion they inherited from Callie's Ender renter. But her chip is a target of the Old Man, because it's different - she has the ability to be aware while someone else is controlling her body. And she has the ability to kill. Determined to find answers and truth, Callie begins rescuing Metals off the streets. But everyone has secrets. And some might cost her her life. I think I'm getting better at summarizing. It only took a little over two years!

Review: I was really looking forward to this sequel, and Ms. Price did not disappoint! This story is full of action and suspense and questions and answers, and all these things fit together like a perfectly measured double-sided jigsaw puzzle. The mysteries draw you in, and the plot twists keep you there! Questions, answers, and just the right amount of tension. It's seemingly flawless! A definite add to you to-read-list book! And more than just the story, the characters are wonderful too! You can really get to know and like them. Two thumbs up! That's a compliment here in the United States, not an insult.

About the cover:

I like this cover much better than I liked the one for Starters (I got the creepy white-face copy.) The color scheme and the picture of the flawless girl makes much more sense than an albino with two differently colored eyes.

Okay, see you next week. Is it just me, or is this post really short? Must be the small intro.

Sounds Lonely.

Hey world! I'm pretty sure today is Wednesday, so here I am to review some books! I believe I have two books, so hurray! Let's jump right in, shall we?

Image result for Exile Kevin emersonSo, a few days ago I finished this book called Exile by Kevin Emerson. It is the first book in a planned trilogy, though the next two books are not yet out at this time. I have just discovered that the second one comes out next month! Here's something cool: Kevin is a musician, and he wrote three songs about this book, from this book actually, which you can check out on his website! I highly recommend listening to the songs first, so that if you read the book, you can hum along!

Summaryish: Summer is a high schooler/band manager whose band just left her for a big record company. After moping around for a bit, she sees something great in an angsty singer named Caleb. She encourages him to get a band together, but when he receives a letter from his dead father everything changes. Summer, Caleb, and the rest of the band begin a wild search for hidden clues that may or may not lead to something amazing about Caleb's long-lost father.

Review: This book is outside my normal genre, but that was strangely okay this time around. There was just something about this realistic fiction that was...not boring. In fact, this was a page-turner! I loved seeing the way the characters changed, and the story develops beautifully. The elegant mixture of music and life and mystery is fantastic! It's a great story, but I wouldn't say I'm positively dying for the second one.  It's an easy read that's great for balancing out a book haul, and if you see it, certainly get it!

About the Dedication:

That totally changed my entire life. Or at least that moment when I was reading it.

Okay, see you in a few minutes!

There Are Probably So Many Books with that Same Title.

Hey world! Post three of three on this blogging Wednesday. Isn't it great? I didn't forget even one book! I knew exactly what I was reviewing and what I would say today. I'm maturing as a blogger! And as a reader, I guess. Funny how that works. Anyways, I guess I better get into it, now, huh?

Image result for rebel amy tinteraSo, yesterday night at about 10:39, I finished this book called Rebel by Amy Tintera. This is the sequel to her first book, Reboot, which I reviewed earlier on this blog somewhere. Take advantage of the index, if you're curious. Also, notice that I said "sequel" not "second." That's because this is where the story ends - it's a duology! Those are always fun to experiment with! It seems that something is either a standalone, a trilogy, or something larger. I have a theory about prime numbers and perfect story-length, because there always seems to be something wrong with a series that doesn't land on a prime number.

Summaryish: After the events in Reboot, like seriously we pick up right where they left off, Wren 178 and Callum 22 are arriving at the Reboot Reservation, where they learn that the leader of said reservation is a crazy human-hating psycho planning to attack the humans. Wren and Callum just fought a war against HARC, and they're not looking to do that again. But with the lives of so many people on the line...Well, they just get caught in the middle of everything.

Review: I remember really super loving the first book in this series. This second one...was a little disappointing. There was just something so easily tune-outable about it, and I was searching and searching for what this book was about, but all I found were the events. It seemed to be just an action-adventure novel without a real purpose other than a few thrills. It's an intriguing story, and I understand that sequels are hard, but I really had high expectations for this book, and I felt let down.

To the Author:

Ms. Tintera, it seems like you have a secret obsession with the word "brushing" and it's other forms. I suggest immediate counselling with an editor or other word-professional. There's probably a hotline for word obsessions, too.

See you next week!

This Doesn't FAYZ Me.

Hey world! Second post of this fantastic blogging Wednesday on which there will be three posts in all. Ahh, books. They just make me so happy. What's your favorite book? Go ahead and tell me in the comments below. Or just any book, really. Or just any comment. Go for it. Let's take this relationship to the next level...

Image result for Fear book Michael GrantSo, a few days ago I finished this book called Fear by Michael Grant. This is the penultimate book in the six book series that goes by the title "Gone." But I should tell you to be careful right from the start - this is a horror series, though it's sometimes classified as paranormal. Lots of scary stuff going on, so be cautious. This book is available in multiple countries, I believe, so covers vary.

Summaryish: It's been almost a year since the FAYZ barrier went up, leaving only children 15 and under in Perdido Beach. Lots of things have happened, but the kids are facing their biggest challenge yet - the Darkness has found another way to be born. Not only that, but the barrier is changing. Growing darker. It will leave them in complete blackness very soon, and everyone will learn fear on a deeper level than ever before.

Review: By the fifth book, I'm getting a little tired of all these questions and no answers. Sure, the action is entertaining, and the character developments and the suspense and all that is super great - but goshers, I just want to finally know something, you know? I guess that's a good thing, because it guarantees I'll come back. These aren't short books, which generally makes me happy, but I feel like there's a lot of talk and a lot of just checking in with different characters - and there are a lot of characters to keep track of - and a lot of just building suspense about the same thing over and over again. It gets a little boring when the characters are all "Woe is me!" again and again, without solving any problems or discovering something about themselves, or even entertaining new thoughts. Rehash is not awesome. But the book still was, believe it or not.

Words to the Characters:

Sam: Glad you finally realized that, dude, I was about to start disliking you.

Okay, see you next post!
