Misty Water Coloured Memories, Of The Way We Were.

Hello all! Can you believe it's already almost 2013?? Geez, where did this year go? Nowhere!! Time is relative not constant! This year doesn't have to be in the past, we can re-visit it any time we want to if we just concentrate hard enough. Sadly, I have problems with concentrating. Aww man, I totally forgot which book I'm reviewing today...Okay I remember now, here I go....

So I just finished Macbeth by William Shakespeare. Boy this brings back memories. Do you remember my first post? That was The Merchant of Venice, both by Shakespeare!! Blogs grow up so fast! Anyways, it's not a series, but that's kind of obvious. You can get it here if you want it. I read this awesome kind of Shakespeare called "No Fear Shakespeare" where on one page there is the original version, but on the other is today's English so if you don't know a word, or like when characters start talking about something else without using a new subject you don't get confused! It works well for me!!

Summaryish: Macbeth is all about this guy named, well, uh, Macbeth, and how three witches prophesied that he would become the king of Scotland. So he tells his wifey about it, and she gets all evil and power-hungry and  convinces him to kill the current king to make the prophecy come true. But his guilt leads him to become a tyrant. Okay, the spoilers are kicking in, I should stop before I give away the ending!!

Review: Wow this was fantastic!! I was completely lost in the pages!! Like with all of Shakespeare's works, it was very well thought out and interconnected. I feel like it must have taken months to write! I can't even communicate the awesome that is this play! I want to be in it so badly! My favourite part was the "Double, bubble toil and trouble/Fire burn and cauldron bubble" I saw that scene in my minds eye more vividly than all the others! What was your favourite part? (See what I did there? I just asked you that question without an "If you read it," in front of it, therefore eliminating any chance that you might not read it.)

Words to the Characters:

Macbeth: I have just one question for you: Why, why'd you do it? It was so unlike you.

Lady Macbeth: You are very good at getting what you want. I'll leave it to you to discover if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

Hmmm. I can't think of any other big characters to whom I can talk. Oh well.

Alrighty, this post is complete. I hope you enjoyed it! I sure did, although my fingertips are kind of going numb. Is that normal? Bye!

If I Had Wings I Would Fly...Something, Something, Touch The Sky!

Howdy howdy darling reader! Surprised to hear from me? I posted only yesterday, and here I am already reviewing another book. I am just so tickled to have over 240 pageviews already!!! I love it when you look at my blog! I feel so popular. Especially because some of those people aren't even from America where I am!! Hello people from China, Saudi Arabia, Germany and the United Kingdom! How are things on the other side of the ocean? I should probably review a book now.

So I just finished this book called Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment by James Patterson. Maybe you've heard of him? I read his "About the Author" and apparently he's pretty popular. Anyways. This book is the first part of the Fugitives series, also known as "Maximum Ride" (Which is a person, not an experience). If you would like to purchase it, try clicking right about here.

Summaryish: You know the drill, this paragraph isn't going to be very helpful because, like every book I read, it's full of secrets and conspiracies. I will do my best. Here I go...This book is about a girl named Max and her five friends, all between the ages of 6 and 14. They're just regular kids, you know. Chilling out and fighting and stuff. But here's the catch (Why is there always a catch?): They have wings. And they're not fighting each other, they're fighting crazy dog people and the scientists who created them. Yeah, that's right. They had bird DNA grafted into them. Pretty cool, I know, but it causes lots of problems. Like when the youngest member of there "flock" is kidnapped. Anyways, like good friends they go off to rescue her with lots of interesting things happening in between. Then they end up in New York for reasons I cannot tell you. Spoilers, what are you going to do?

Review: Welcome! It is once again time for my review!! I have just one thing to say: Awesometatiousfulicious. (I sooooo just gave away my identity, I'm the only person I know who says that.) I absolutely love this book!! I am going to write the titles of the rest of the books in the series on my To Read list, and once I finish reading them all, I will explore the rest of Mr. Patterson's books. I love the sciencefictionyness of it all!! It's got everything: DNA, wings, dog-people, mad scientists, betrayal, lies, plans that fail, plans that succeed, plans that don't follow through, it even has cookies!!! One last thing: I don't know why, but the ever-present sarcastic air and never ending witty humour really make me feel at home with this book. Like I can just fall right into the pages and start discovering my genetically engineered talents with the rest of them. Home, sweet home.

Words to the Characters:

Max: You remind me of me...you know, without the wings.

Fang: I'm getting this weird feeling that you wanted to stay with the hawks, and you are sad you left. There there. I would have liked to stay with the hawks too.

Iggy: I love how you don't let your blindness get in your way! Super hearing rocks!

Nudge: Don't worry, I talk a lot too, it's normal for people to tell you to be quiet. Don't take it to heart.

Gazzy: I think it's cool how your full name has the word "the" in it. I should start calling myself The Xxxxxx X. Xxxxxx.

Angel: Mind powers all the way!!! Woo!

Okay, I'm done for today, unless I finish the next book in my pile later today. I'll still probably wait till tomorrow to review it though. I hope the suspense doesn't kill you! Bye!

I Wanna Fly On A Dragon Too!!

Hello again boys and girls, I am back to dazzle your eyes once more. Did you have a Very Merry Christmas? I did. Did you get any books under the tree? Elephants bamboozle kittens on a magic carpet that loves cheese and artichokes. Just making sure you were paying attention -- You're going to want to for this next book.

So yesterday, somewhere around six o'clock, I finished this awesome book entitled Warrior. But that's not enough information!! There are thousands of books called Warrior out there, but I would be very surprised to find one more awesome than Bryan Davis's version! It is book 2 of 4 in a series bestowed with the name Dragons of Starlight!! The first one was called Starlighter. I don't know about you, but my fuzzy socks are completely rocked. Anyways, if you want it, you got it. If you break it...you buy a new computer.

Summaryish: Okay, by now you have probably realized that I read a lot of books with secrets and conspiracies and whatnot in them. So -- as you have probably figured out -- this book is going to be hard to summarize. Let me think here for a second...The whole series is about this guy named Jason who goes through a portal to another planet ruled by dragons who have enslaved humans to mine for a gas called "pheterone" (I think that's how you spell it) Then, he meets this slave girl named Koren, who is a Starlighter. What's a Starlighter? you may be thinking. Well, I'll tell you. It's a person who can tell stories so well that they actually appear before you! Like, literally, little ghost things. Jason came to this planet to free all the slaves from their captivity on Starlight (The dragon planet) and return them to Major Four ( The human planet) But here's the conundrom: A prophesied black egg has been laid, and in that egg is an evil baby dragon. That baby dragon is about to hatch, and use Koren's abilities to rule Starlight and Major Four. Then in Warrior, he does hatch!! And then there's a whole bunch of tests, a white dragon, a blind chick who favours the colour black, and a whole bunch of twists and turns and internal battles as well as external. The end.

Review: This one is totally unlike any of Bryan's other works that I have read! Because in this one, the dragons are the bad guys. Usually the dragons are the good guys, but nope, not today. Most of them are actually quite nasty. Although some of them, like Arxad and Tamminy, are pleasant enough. So that really threw me off when I first started this series, but ohhhh do I love it!!! This book is definitely not lacking in action! Fights, escapes, captures, wolves, more captures, more escapes, and then there's a floating dead girl, what's up with that? Anyways, totally fantastic!! My favourite part was the "I'm trying to save my daddy's life with a stardrop, and then my foot fell through the floor!" part. I know, it was supposed to be a dramatic moment, but I couldn't help laughing!!

Words to the Characters:

Koren: I see your dilemma, and I feel for you. But, jeez, when it comes to black and white, go with white!! You drive me crazy sometimes, but only because I can see the whole picture.

Elyssa: Why didn't you dance? Dumb question, I already know the answer. But why didn't you dance anyway?

Jason: I gotta say, I am loving your daddy, he has an awesome nose!

Randall: Sorry, nothing to say. I wasn't really paying attention to your part because I was worrying about everyone else...Not that you're not awesome or anything.

I'm done!! Go away!! I'm kidding, I love you so much!! Stay a while, enjoy the view, have some hors d'oeuvres (we're out of meatballs), kick your  feet back. I'm leaving, but you can stay as long as you like! Bye!

I'm Going To Have To Start Using The Periodic Table As Code Now.

Hey everybody!! Wow, it's been a long time. I don't really have an excuse for that today. At least I'm blogging now, right? That's what really counts in the end. Speaking of ending, it's 3:03 and the world hasn't yet. Weird. I was so sure the entire world would explode today. (Not) Well, the day's not over yet!! It would be sad if the world did end though, because my frequently mentioned awesome aunt might come tomorrow! Along with my whole awesome extended family! Fun! Enough with this exchanging pleasantries, let's talk about the book.

So I just finished this book by Catherine Jinks called Evil Genius. I know, I know. I'm terrible. Look at me -- trying to replace Artemis Fowl. I thought this new genius might help me get over Artemis, but it's not. I miss him more than ever now. The Eoin Colfer boycott continues. Anyways. You can get this book, which is part of a trilogy (I don't know the formal name of the series, though) HERE....Sorry, here

Summaryish: Okay, this being a book full of conspiracies, secrets, lies, plans, and general naughtiness, it's going to be hard to summarize. I just give you the gist: It's about this 14 year old guy (Most of the time he was a guy, some of the time he was forced to wear a girl disguise) named Cadel who is a genius. His foster parents aren't very nice, but his real dad is worse. In fact, his dad --who is in jail, by the way -- built a school just for his son. Bad side: It's to teach him how to be evil and take over the world. It has classes like forgery, basic lying, disguise, and embezzlement. Not a nice place to be. Especially if you don't want to be evil. I cannot give away anymore, alas. But I will tell you that a whole bunch of interesting stuff happens. Including, but not limited to: Poisoning, kidnapping, theft (grand auto and others), and fights (verbal and other). And then there's the conspiracies. All in all, pretty action packed.

Review: Yay! We're finally to the review part!! Definitely not as good as Artemis Fowl. I love geniuses, but Cadel didn't talk or act like a good genius should. He said "uh" a lot.  That's not even a word. Arte said "er" once and was appalled at himself. Anyways; other than that, it was fantastic!!! Catch-your-breath-excitement is found on every page! I had to tear myself away from the pages when I needed to use the restroom. And even then, I read an extra two chapters before I actually got up. In my opinion, this book was very well thought out. Everything ties into something else somehow or another, right down to the spacesuit. A very spectacular read. I will be getting the second and third just as soon as possible!

Words to the Characters:

Cadel: Sweety, I'm getting the same feeling about you as a got about Brawn when I read Stronger: I can't decide whether to hug you or run away. You're so innocent-looking and your story is so pitiful that I can't help but want to hug you. But at the same time I'm worried that if I do Thaddeus or Luther will do something entirely unfriendly in return.

Thaddeus: Just so you are aware, you don't scare me one bit. So there.

Dr. Darkkon: I  think I like your old name better, Vernin Bobrick. It's so much more scientific than Phineas Darkkon. But Darkkon does kind of fit you, since you're the bad guy and all.

There you have it, today's post is over. Tomorrow might not even be here, according to the Mayans, so you better enjoy this while you can. Good bye!!

And This Is Why I'm Terrified Of Phones.

Hey everyone!!! Wowzers, how long has it been? Two, three days? I need to step it up, read more. I mean, 288 pages shouldn't take me three whole days. Anyways, I was just reading some of my old posts, and it seems I always have something bad to say about most books. I always thought I was a pretty laid back reader, and here I am, always finding something bad to say. I'm going to make an effort to try to look only at the positives. Well, maybe I shouldn't because it would be dishonest to only talk about the good things in books. I'm just going to continue what I've been doing.

So, I just finished this book called iBoy by Kevin Brooks, I am under the impression that it is not a series, and you can get it...here. It's kind of short, but it took even me a little less than two days. Or was it three? I started it on the 14th after 9pm, and finished it today, the 16th, mere seconds before 1:31. Would that be two days, three days, or two and a half? I don't know.

Summaryish: This book is about a 16 year old dude who lives in London somewhere, but on the "bad" side of town. Like with gangs and stuff. So basically; someone throws a phone at him and he gets little bits of it lodged in his brain, and it kind of fuses with his thoughts. He is given unbelievable power, like, in-brain Google, he can listen in on phone calls, call people from his head, and all sorts of stuff. Oh, and he also has this shimmery skin that glows with information and zaps people. Using his extraordinary new talents, he decides to cause a big brouhaha and break up all the gangs because they hurt his friend. Did that give a little too much away? Sorry if I just ruined it for you.

Review: Okay, this story was really great, as was the whole identity crisis thing in the middle!!! I love a good identity crisis!! Woohoo! But, now for the bad side: The swearing. My internal censor was overworked and underpaid during this book. The f and s words were EVERYWHERE! I just couldn't escape them. I hate it when books have bad words in them. This one probably had more profanity than Of Mice and Men and Grapes of Wrath combined!! Oi veh!!! Other than that it was great!!  I am a huge fan of witty banter, and this book was definitely not lacking!! I was rocking back and forth near the end because I was so caught up in the story!

Words for the Characters.

Tommy: I wish I had an iPhone in my mind. A computer might be better, though, telephones scare me. But it would be cool to be able to have all the knowledge already in your head than having to learn it the old fashioned way.

Lucy: I just want to give you a hug so badly!!! Cyber squeeze. Feel better? I do.

That is it for today everybody!!! See you next time!! Unless I don't. Which would be sad.

I Wish I Were In A Tree Right Now.

Hello hello hello! It's been so long since I last blogged!! I missed you so much!! Thank's for coming, it means a lot to me. So how long exactly has it been? Gee wizzers, at least since the 8th! Sorry it's been taking me so long. But I have an excuse!!! The book I was reading was boring, in my opinion, and it was long. Not that I don't like to read long books, I do, but not when they are boring. Shiver.

So I just finished reading this book called A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith. If you want to buy it, you can look HERE. It's not serial. But I don't think I'd want to read cereal anyway. See what I did there? Ha ha. Sometimes I read serial books while eating cereal, but that's different. Anyways...

Summaryish: I think I can summary more than usual because it's not a series and it barely has a recognizable plot, it basically just follows the life of a Brooklyn girl and documents all the struggles that go along with being born in the early 1900's to a poorish family. So it starts out with Francie (the Brooklyn girl I just told you about) as an 11 year old, but then it kind of backtracks into a place before she was born. It tells about how her parents grew up, and all about her aunts and uncles and stuff. Then it goes back to her being 11, and she grows up. The End.

Review: Okay, I have to admit that, even though at first I was really bored and going to bed late on purpose, as the book progressed, it got significantly more tolerable, I even started enjoying myself...just a little. It was a really great book, the last half of Chapter 33 being the best, but I much prefer aliens, explosions, and maybe a little natural disaster every once in a while. But hey, that's just me. If you like regular books about life, struggles, sibling love/rivalry, and death not caused by a plane crash, and maybe even a little "first love" mixed in, read this book. But if you are like me, only read this if your bag full of books is unbalanced and you need a classic to even it out. If I had to put it under a column, it would be under the "eh" heading. Neither good nor bad. Just....eh.

Words for the characters:

Johnny: For some reason, and on a very small level, the drunkenness kind of "fits" you.  Not that getting drunk is okay or anything. It's like you wouldn't be human if you didn't drink because then you'd just be too perfect to stand.

Francie: I like reading too!! What a coinkeedink. I just don't read a book a day. I have however finished three books in one day before.

Neeley: I can't think of anything to say to you...sorry.

Katie: I just can't believe you actually have a FAVOURITE kid!!!!! That kind of makes you less awesome. I mean, you just don't have a favourite kid. That's like picking a favourite Artemis Fowl book.

Lee: Meany.

There you are!! It is now up to you to decide whether you add this book to your slowly diminishing To Read list in order  to beef it up a little or watch it evaporate into a blur of highlighter and wrinkly paper.

A Momentous Occasion In All Of Blog History.

Hey party people!! I hope your day is going fantastic!! I also hope that this blog post makes your fantastic day 10 times better making it an awesometatiousfulicious day!!! This is a momentous occasion, dearest reader. Do you know why? Of course you don't! I haven't told you yet!!! This is terribly amazing because this is the second time I've talked about this series!! Yay!!!! I reviewed the book that came before this one not too long ago!!

So, I just finished this book called The Doomsday Code by Alex Scarrow book 3 of 7(?) in the TimeRiders series...sounding familiar??? I reviewed the second book, Day of the Predator, right here on this blog! Oh! And I thought it would be nice if I included an Amazon link from here on out so that if you want to buy the book, you can. Also if you would like a better review and summary you can get one!!! Here you go: Click here for the Amazon link! And, you can click HERE for my earlier review, because I don't want to summarize the whole series for the second time.

Summaryish: Okay, this is a pretty secretive series. I mean, it's about a SECRET agency. Dare I risk summarizing? I do. I do dare. This time around, the TimeRiders have a pretty easy wave to stop...At the beginning. Just a new movie based off a manuscript some teenage hacker dude decoded a few slivers of. No big whoop  right? Until...the big until...Maddy decides to check it out, and accidentally leaves a clue as to where and when to find the team. And this dude does. Find them that is.  So let's get this straight: An outsider (as in doesn't know about the agency) finds out about the agency. He shows up at their door and demands to have all their money. I'm kidding, actually he's all like "Who are you?" in his charming English accent. And the rest is history. Literally, the rest actually is history. A wrong one. Meaning Liam and the support units travel back to 1194 to make sure King Richard doesn't find the Holy Grail. Wow. That was hard to summarize, and I probably did an awful job. Oh well. I'll do better next time, I promise.

Review: Hmm...What is my opinion on this book? Hate. dislike, like, love, or adore??? Yeah, I'm going to have to go neutral on this one. It had everything a good book needs: action and time travel. But...I don't know. Maybe there was a little too much action? The same thing happened in the last book. It wasn't perfectly balanced between action and suspense and breathing room. Also, there were a lot of plans, and  a lot of them went right. That's not good; plans should almost always go wrong!! That's what makes books awesome!!!  Anyways. I liked the book, but maybe -- I never thought I'd say this -- slow it down a little? Or at least stop killing everybody, that's not even nice.

Words for the Characters:

Bob: So good to have you back big feller! Sorry about your arm by the way.

Becks: I never thought I'd see you behave so lady-like. Way to adapt girl friend!!!

Maddy: Way to go on not cursing as much! I'm so proud of you!

Sal: Honey, where are you in this story? You keep disappearing. Maybe in the next one it'll have more of you (my favourite character) in it!!

Liam: Thanks for shaving, you didn't look good in the beard. By the way you're 16 right? Or are you 17? I can't remember.

Adam: I love English accents, and what is Dungeons and Dragons about? I've always wanted to play, but I don't know how.

There you have it! This momentous occasion is drawing to a close. Bye everybody! Don't forget to comment, I feel like people I've never even met are reading this!

This One Isn't About A Book.

Hello everybody. Sorry about the lack of excess explanation marks, I am just too outraged to exaggerate my enthusiasm. About what things am I outraged? you may ask. Well, I'll tell you...No, I'll show you.

vs.

What is this???? They gave CINDERELLA a MAKE-OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They just can't do that. You just don't make-over the Disney princesses. Who gave this the okay?? We should join up and protest. No seriously. We can all make signs and stand outside Disney Land and voice our opinions. I'll bring the lemonade. (But don't come unless you're as flabbergasted as I, you're not supposed to protest unless you have a reason) I am so shocked. I just had to tell you about it. But I promise I will only use this blog for books in the future...unless of course something as shocking  this happens again.

Wow. Just Wow.

Hello!! I was just looking at my "Stats" page, and it turns out people in Germany and the United Kingdom look at my blog! Isn't that cool!  I think it is. Anyways. This post is actually going to be really short because...Well, you'll see.

So, I just finished this book called Human.4 by Mike A. Lancaster, and it better be part of a series, or I'm going to be really upset. Give me a sec here, I'm going to check the author's website... YAYYAYYAYYAYYAYYAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 There already is a sequel! In the US it is called The Future We Left Behind Mysterious...In some different country it is called 1.4....I'm so excited1!!!!!

Summaryish: I was just about to start summarizing this book...when I realized I can't. Not because it's complicated. Not because the beginning gives away the end. Nothing like that at all. I just can't. Why? you may ask with a slight frown and maybe a misty eye or two. Because, I say with a compassionate cadence, if I even attempt to summarize this, it will spoil my memory of it's awesomeness. And even for you reader -- And I would die for you -- I cannot risk ruining this book in my mind. You'll just have to take my word for it that it's awesome.

Review:  Gee wizzers. Wow. I love this book! I'm not going to tell you about how much I liked the way it was written -- That would demote it from Hopefully Something That Actually Can Happen In The Future down to Memory Of A Loved But Sadly Fictitious Book. I can't let that happen...It was too real for me. It's just too awesome to tell you anything about it.

No words for the characters today.

"Awwww" you say, finally letting the unshed tears fall.

"I'm sorry!" I say passionately. "Talking to the characters would require me to analyze them to find out the best thing to tell them. And, as aforementioned, I love this book too much to analyze it."

"Oh, okay," says you, as you scroll down to finish reading this post.

Anyways, I would love it if everyone who reads this post would comment, I'd like to get to know my readers. I love y'all so much it makes sense that you would tell me who I am loving.

Don Don Doooon...A Bad Review? Gasp!

Hey everyone! I promised a second posting today, and that promise is coming to fruition right now! You're excited, who wouldn't be? I'm super excited because I just love blogging, especially since I know awesome people like you are reading it!  So welcome, let's get started!

Okay, it was....Saturday I think that I finished Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin. It is not a series, simply a stand alone non-fiction novel. I know. Non-fiction? Crazy that I, Xxxxxx, would be reading non-fiction. But I did. And I regret it.

Summaryish: Okay, so basically this book is just about this dude who builds schools for Pakistani children and helps out in Afghanistan during the war and becomes an American hero after failing to summit K2 blah blah blah. (Hint: I didn't like this book, so you might want to go to a different website if you want unbiased reviews and summaries) That's pretty much it. Except that he get's kidnapped and lost a few times.

Review: Oi veh...this was torture. No, worse than torture....this was a not very entertaining book. Shiver. The horror!!! The horror!!! Anyways, I probably didn't like this because it was non-fiction. I'm just not a non-fiction kind of person. I felt like I was reading a cross between a history lesson, a geography lesson, and a newspaper article. None of those are things of which I am particularly fond.  Oh well. This book would probably be better if there was a glossary. I have no idea what a Shadra kamiz is. Just saying. I don't even think I spelled that right. By the way, this was probably a good book, I just didn't like it.

I'm not going to speak to the characters today, because I never got to know them. Sadly, this book was too factual.

802,701 Reasons To Read This Book

I am so sorry readers. I've been slacking off. I finished this book on September 29 and here I am, not reviewing it until the 3 of the next month. I feel so bad. Sniffle. I hope you can forgive me. To make it up to you, I'll be posting twice today. Once for this book, and another for a different book. I'm actually really excited about the next post because it won't be like any of my other ones.

So, I finished reading The Time Machine by H.G. Wells a few days ago (sorry again!). It is not part of a series, but it was published a way long time ago in like, the 19th century. And we're in the 21st so that's pretty far back. Anyways, this paragraph is coming to a close because there is nothing else I can say about the physicality of this book, I can only speak of its innards now.

Summaryish: Okay, I think I can tell you a lot about this book, because the back of the cover says some pretty revealing stuff. It all starts at a dinner party, where this guy (His name is censored, we just call him The Time Traveler) gives a demonstration to a bunch of people about time travel. Then, a week later, another dinner party takes place. Except that this time the Time Traveler is not present, he staggers in a while into it, and demands meat.  This is because he claims to have traveled into the future to the year 802,701, where the diet is strictly vegetarian. He spends eight days there, but not because he wants to spend so many nights in the future! No! Because the Morlocks, nocturnal underground human things, have stolen his Time Machine!!! So he is forced to stay in the future where he lives with the peaceful Eloi, who are calm and carefree future versions of humans. Once he finally get's his machine back, he travels even farther into the future! This far ahead, there are no human, just giant crab-like creatures in a sandy world.

Review: This was fantastic!! My mouth was literally not closed throughout the entire book, I was too busy gasping and gaping!! When The Time Traveler descended into the world of the Morlocks...I had chills!! When the matches ran out, I almost screamed in despair! However, if you prefer books written in today's English, I suggest you find a different version. The language was easily understandable and all, it was just kind of oldish. I like books like that, so it's all good here. Anyways, I give it a A-, the minus because it was so short, and I wanted it to go on forever! P.S. Why is it that in the past, people capatalized stuff like "Nature, Time, Length, Height, and Thickness"? Weird.

Words for the characters.

Time Traveler: What is your name??? It's been driving me crazy!

Weena: You're so cute! I love you so much! One thing: why is it that I always imagine you as like, a four year old? You're obviously fully grown.

Okay,  this post is over, moving on to the next one which I promised you earlier.

Blue Is Pretty Color, Don't You Think?

Howdy everybody! This is like, my 11th post! Can you believe that? It feels like just yesterday I was criticizing Shylock's need for flesh. Tear. This blog is growing up so fast. I just can't believe it! Well, actually I can, but still it's impressive.

So anyways, this morning I finished this awesome book during breakfast called Blue Noon by Scott Westerfeld book three of the Midnighters series, and I'm pretty sure this is the last one. It was only kind of set up for another, so there might be one, but most likely not. So instead of series, I should have said maybe-trilogy.

Summaryish: Okay, this is the third in a maybe-trilogy, so this will be a skimpy summary to avoid spoilers. But hey, that's why it's called a summaryish. The first book was about Jessica moving to Bixby Oklahoma and discovering that she is one of five midnighters who parole a secret hour that is contained in a single moment of real-time. They all have special talents, Seer, Mindcaster, Acrobat, Polymath. (I like to think of myself as a Polymath ;)) But Jessica doesn't seem to fit in- she has no talent. And then a whole bunch of cat-like creatures who created the secret hour to escape hunting humans try to kill her. That much I can give away. The second book continues after she has discovered her talent and the creatures leave her alone for a while, until they get nervous and attack her again. That much I can give away too. But the third one is so full of secrets and surprises I don't know how much is safe! Let's just say that the secret hour is expanding on Halloween (Why is it always Halloween?) to a full day of blue time...This is bad because the creatures eat humans and everyone, not just the midnighters, will be sucked into the mysterious purple time. Yup!

Reviewish: Geez Louis, I stayed up past midnight for this...Well, I would have, but lights-out was called while I was epilogueing and I had to wait until breakfast to finish it!!! It's okay though, because in the 10 hours between lights-out and breakfast, all the flavours of this book combined on my tongue to make the last half of the epilogue better. It has something for everyone too! Car chases, math, mind-reading, everything. It was also interesting to see the changes in Rex after the incident of book 2!! Animal instincts in humans = awesome!!!! The ending really tied it all together, it all just fit . Hang on to your underwear when you're reading this one, it'll blow you away!

Words for the characters:

Jessica: Wow. I would never be able to keep something from my sister that long. I'm coming to you with all my secrets from now on! If I ever have one. And if I somehow break into midnight, what with the rip fading and all.

Rex: You are so interesting in this last book! Congratulations on controlling yourself! No offense, but I like you better in this book, I'm not sure why.

Melissa: I named the light-up doe in our yard after you! I also named the buck after Rex because you guys are all "together". P.S. If you try to stop listening in on peoples thoughts, they might like you better!

Dess: You're my favorite! (don't tell the others). Math is great, isn't it? I can play Pi on the piano, you know. I wish I could do math like you, but I'm stuck with a calculator. I named it Surreptitious.

Jonathan: I hope I spelled your name right. I wish I had your talent, it sounds so fun! I've always wanted to fly!! Or at least reverse gravity! You remind me of this one person in a different book, Simon Bloom, maybe you know him? He's the Gravity Keeper.

There you have it! My review and stuff! I'm not a very good blogger am I? What are you supposed to do on a book review blog anyway? If you have any suggestions for me, just comment them! Bye!

Why? Because he's _Stronger_ than you.

Hey all!! How's it going? Well, you're checking my blog, so it's probably really boring. Anyways, can you believe Christmas is so far away? I mean, why can't time speed up from December 1-23 and then slow back down on the 24 so the tension can build, and then almost completely stop on the 25 so Christmas lasts forever? I mean, it's night outside at five o'clock these days, by definition, day's should be quicker. But here's some hopefulness in the words of good ol' Alby E...equals MC^2. "The distinction between past, present, and future is an illusion, but a very persistent one." So maybe time really will speed up.

So I just finished this book called Stronger by Michael Carroll book three of the Super Human series, which is a companion  to the New Heroes series. I'm thinking this is the last one, but with Micheal you never know. It might be only the beginning. Random Comment: You better be writing a New Heroes book, clones excite me, dude! You don't want me to go on a rampage and dishonestly critique your books!!! I'm kidding, I try to never lie.

Summaryish: Okay, time to summarize, I think I can do it this time because this is a little bit of a stand alone in the series. This book is about the superhuman Brawn, you know, the big blue guy with no pupils and irises? Well, it talks about his history, how he came about, what he's doing now, and everything in between. It's kind of like an autobiography that's still being written!! I don't know how else to summarize it because it has a plot, but a whole bunch of different stories. You know what I mean?

Review: Woopee! The review part is my favorite! I am so ready to tear this book a part!! I'm kidding, I'm a positive reviewist. Unless I don't like the book. Then you better watch out (you better not cry, you better not pout I'm telling you why....). I really super liked this book!!! I like how it was then and now, how things weren't chronological but in a way that made sense. It really fills in a lot about this misunderstood character Brawn, and kind of pushes you from disliking Max Dalton to really disliking Max Dalton. Anyways. At times, it got really deep and brought on a new perspective about life. But most of the time it was just a whole bunch of fights and guns. But here's the great part about Michael Carroll: It's not all blood and guts with him, it's about the preservation of life. At least, that's what I got from it. Lastly, I loved how this book was so balanced. Just enough fights mixed with just enough despair, and sprinkled with a heaping teaspoon of science fiction, all baked together until golden brown. Yummy.

Words to the characters:

Brawn: Your story is so touching in a bang pow kind of way, that I can't decide whether to hug you or run away. Either way, thanks for being nice despite your monstrosity and situation.

Harmony: I'm not talking to you....

Max: STAY OUT OF MY MIND!!!!!! If you get near me, I'm calling Brawn...

Michael Carroll: When is the next New Heroes book, I'm dying over here!!!!

That's all for today, tune in next time for a Scott Westerfeld!!!!

Here Fishie Fishie!

Okay, this post is going to be really quick, because it's almost dinner time, and it's not about a book.

I got a fish tank!!!!! You can see them over there -------------------------------->
They were inspired by my fellow blogger Peanut Butter Girl, author of Mirandomness. (Hey, Peanut Butter Girl!!! How's your game coming!?) Like hers, my adorable little fishes have names.

The red one is named Blinkey, the white one is filling in for Pinkey (Blogger doesn't have a pink color!) the blue is Inky, the orange equals Clyde, and the yellow one is named Pacman. If you haven't guessed already, they are named after the characters in the hit arcade game "Pacman" If you watch them long enough, Blinkey, Pinkey, Inky, and Clyde will change color to blue, and Pacman will eat them! Oh, you can also feed them their food if you click on them. I would appreciate it if you did, I don't want my babies getting skinny!

P.S. How long did you look at my fish before you realized I was lying when I said they would change colour?  Comment that, I really want to know!

I Was Lying When I Said I Don't Read "Files" Books.

Bonjour on! Comment ça va? Je veux écrire en français aujourd'hui, mais tu ne comprends pas, n'est ce pas?   I'll finish this in English, the less Google Translate the better. Google is taking over the world you know. And I'm helping them, but I guess that's kind of okay because their products are really great! Sooo, yeah, that's my introductory paragraph.

Okay, by the title you can logically conclude that this review is about a "files" book. It is called I am Number Four: The Lost Files: The Legacies by Pittacus Lore, file to the I Am Number Four series, book one: I Am Number Four. Book two: The Power of Six. Book three: The Rise of Nine. I can't wait for the next one! We haven't met five yet, and his/her story is driving me insane because I don't know it!!! Oh my gosh I can't wait!!! I would shriek shrilly, but you wouldn't be able to hear me.

Summaryish: Today I think it's okay to tell you the summary because it's a file, and thus is supposed to be a spoiler. Okay, it's divided into three parts, Six's Legacy, Nine's Legacy, and The Fallen Legacies. Six's legacy is about her nomadic past and her love/hate relationship with Katerina, her Cêpan. It also details on her months spent captive in a Mogadorian base, her developing her first and second legacies, and how she discovered where to find Four. Nine's Legacy talks about Nine and how he falls in love with a pretty girl, but it turns out she is a Mogadorian captive person and she turns him over for her parents. (Sorry spoiler!) And then it talks about Nine's captivity and the shocking death of his Cêpan. The last part is the best in my opinion! All three stories were written in the first person, and this one was from the perspective of a Mogadorian General's young son, and his connection with the three dead Garde, specifically One. (Mogadorian Mind Meld!!!! Ahhh!)

Review:  There is no possibly way I could portray the epicness of this book and it's series through words! You'll just have to read it in order discover the captivating adventure story of the Garde! Pittacus, you are a genius. Pretty close to good old AF, but just a smidgen shy of a tie. I adore the humanizing of the Mogadorians through the third part, it really makes you sympathize...with the Garde, not the Mogadorians. Except Adamus, he's pretty awesome.

Words for the Characters.

Six: The Mogadorians may have isolated, tortured, tried to kill you, murdured your Cêpan and...I forgot where I was going with this. Carry on.

Nine: The way you actually enjoy battles is disturbing. Try not laughing so much during a fight and maybe people like Four will like you more. Not that you're not awesome, your sense of humor rocks!

Adamus: I don't blame you for not standing up to your daddy, he's pretty intimidating. But he wouldn't have killed whats-his-face, the scientist dude, if he didn't at least have a tidbit of affection towards you. Okay, he probably would have, but he definitely wouldn't have let you slept for three years! P.S. Quit checking out One, she's dead, that's gross.

Okay. I'm done, you may now return to your regularly scheduled programme.

By The Way I Also Like Fantasy

Helloha everybody! I'm back for more!!! You expected that right? I've been trying to keep this whole air of mystery because this is an anonymous blog, but I don't think it's working. I also think most of my readers know who I am, which kind of defeats the purpose. Oh well, I like being anonymous so I'm going to keep at it.

I just finished a book called Lord Sunday by Garth Nix, book 7 of the Keys to the Kingdom series not too long ago. In fact, it hasn't even been an hour yet. It is the last book in a spellbinding series about a boy named Arthur Penhaligon (Suspiciously sounds like Arthur Pendragon if you ask me.) who has severe asthma. Seconds from death, he is rescued by a mysterious man named Mister Monday (not a good guy, just saying) and finds out he is the Heir to the Architect, and to claim his title (which he doesn't want) he must secure the 7 Keys from the evil Trustees in the House, which is a whole world that records our world. Wow, was that confusing?

Summaryish: I've been thinking about discontinuing this paragraph because most of the time I can't tell you what the book is about for spoiler reasons. The same is true now, I cannot tell you about the life threatening not-so-duel in this book because it is the last in a series, and it would inevitably give away the beginnings, middles, and ends of the previous books! I can't tell you about how the House is collapsing and being eaten away by Nothing, either.  So I'm just wasting your time by writing this, but time is an illusion so it doesn't really matter.

Review: Terrific! Absolutely splendid!!! The first book in the series was fabulous, but the last was doubly so! The ones in between were great too, by the way. To give you a little taste of how riveting this book it, let me explain using other books. This series is in the same league as Artemis Fowl (keep in mind leagues can be big), but wouldn't stand a chance against something by Wayne Thomas Batson in a book off. It would, however, slaughter a Gordon Korman. Between this series and Scott Westerfeld, it would probably be a tie. I was glued to the pages! (Not literally, I could move my fingers and all that) I was reading well past midnight, but when Lights Out was called, I was like "COME ON!! I'm almost done!" (Not out loud, I was trying to be respectful out loud) So I had to wake myself up before Wake Up Time so I could finish the book before I had to get up.

Words for the Characters:

Arthur: You are a very likable person because you don't ignore your responsibility, so, well done. Also, your inner struggles brought a certain je ne sais quoi to the book (That means I don't know what in French, by the way).

Suzy Turquoise Blue: You crack me up!!! Comic relief is important, thanks for that!

Leaf: At first, I didn't like you much. I don't know why, I just didn't, but over time you grew on me chicka. The book wouldn't be the same without you.

Will: Jeez, would you lighten up!!! Life isn't just schedules and rules you know.

That's pretty much that. I don't really have anything else to say...so....Stay in school.

By Now You Can Probably Tell I Love Science Fiction, Right?

Ahoy mateys and welcome to my blog, we'RRRe going to have a fantastic post foRRRR you today!!! Sit back and RRRelax, but don't RRRelax too much, I do have a hook foRRR a hand you know. Arg. Anyways, how's life going for you? Read any good books lately? Comment them, please, because my book list is growing short. I'l review them for you if you do!!

So...Remember my last post where I said my next post would be in 4-6 days? Well, it's been 8. That's only because I forgot to review the book yesterday. That still would have been 7, but it's better than 8. Anyways, I finished The Map of Time by Felix J. Palma just a couple days ago, and now it's time to review it! I'm petty sure the companion novel is called The Map of the Sky, but it might just be another book by the same author and not a companion at all.  Well, either way it would be a companion because I like to think all books by the same author get along, like cousins.

Summaryish: This is not even going to be a summary, just me rambling on about nothing whatsoever for two reasons. One: This book is indescribable! Two: If I even tell you one thing about the book, it would give away the whole thing! Which means that you are going to have to decided whether or not to read it based on my review and words to the characters alone. You're not even going to know what the book is about until you come across a more experienced blogger who doesn't mind giving away endings.

Review: Oh. My. Snap. Read this book. Just read it. Don't ask questions. Just read it. In my opinion, it's rated PG-13, and I will admit that I skipped a few of the grosser pats, but in this book it doesn't even matter because it was just that good. It was so well thought out and intertwined, throughout the entire novel I found myself saying "Gasp! It's real this time isn't it! No. Now? Oh snap it is! No...Yes! Finally! It is real! Did it really just end that way with it never existing?" Did I just give away the ending? I hope not. And the narrator! I love it when authors talk to the readers. Lemony Snicket, Pseudonymous Bosch, and now Felix J. Palma. Love ya guys!

Words for the characters.

Andrew: Darling, something bad may have happened, and that something may be the worst thing that could ever happen to you, but lift that chin and dry those tears! Tomorrow is always better. Especially in the morning when nothing bad has happened yet, and you just woke up so the bad memories of yesterday haven't been remembered yet. Look at the positives! Your cousin really loves you.

Herbert: I love your works, truly amazing. And don't worry, The Island of Doctor Moreau is great no matter what the critics say!

Captain Shackleton (Tommy): I don't like how you took advantage of Claire, but I do like how you tried to make it better, keep up the chivalry dude!

Yeah, I don't really want to talk to the rest of the characters, my poor little fingers are getting tired.  So...yeah, that's kind of it...Bye, I guess.

I Don't Really Know What To Title This

Hey everyone!! It's Two For One Tuesday! Except it's Thursday, and you don't have to pay for this blog anyway. My most fanerific fans should know that I've already reviewed a book earlier today. But now I'm back for more because I finished another book! Have you ever tried to balance a pen on a ruler before? Very hard. (Don't ask--unless you cannot contain your curiosity.)

Sooo....I just finished a book called Operation Trinity by Clifford Riley. This book is part of "The Cahill Files" or one of the companion series in The 39 Clues. It's the first book and can be purchased...Here. Normally I don't read "files" books, but this one wasn't, like, "secrets of the series". It was more like the mashed potatoes to your steak. Or, more simply put, the applesauce in your kids' meal.

Summaryish: This book was following a Van Eyke masterpiece as it is guarded (and almost sliced up) by the Cahills in an attempt to safeguard it against the evil Vespers. It starts out waaay back when with this dude named Matthias. Then a few hundred years go by and Grace Cahill is trying to save it from a Nazi stolen art cave thing. Then just a couple decades later we join Ian and Natalie Kabra on their first mission...I'm not going to tell you about that for fear of spoilers. But I did say this book was following the painting, so maybe you can guess what the mission was. Or maybe not because their mission has nothing to do with the painting...Woops better stop my summaryish here...

Review: I love this part!!! This book was pretty short: Only 142 pages, but that doesn't mean it wasn't absolutely splendid! I kind of rushed through the first two parts because I was excited about the Ian and Natalie story (The Lucians are my favorite branch of the family. P.S. I'm pretty sure I spelled that wrong) so I didn't really get "the full effect" of the first two parts, but it was still pretty awesome. My favorite part was the grappling hook incident!

Words for the characters.

Matthias: Chin up! The only reason your daddy is disappointed in you is because he has high expectations, and he only has high expectations because he loves you!

Grace: Yeah, I don't have any advice. You are a great roll model because you get the job done. Can't add much to that.

Ian: I think you would be a lot happier if you stopped listening to your mummy (In a respectful way) and start listening to your inner right and wrong meter-compass thingy. P.S. I love you and you sister's accents!!!

Cue fanfare, I'm done for the day!!!!! See y'all later for my next installment of So You Think You Want To Read That? Estimation: 4-6 days away (609 pages of novel are in my future!)

Dinosaurs, time travel, AND secret agencies? Bring it on.

Happy Today everybody!!! Can you believe it's been, like, four days since my last post? I blame daylight savings. It has messed up my whole schedule!!! Oh well. I'll get the hang of it. So, how's your reading been going? I hope I have helped you pick out some wonderful books! And this is just the beginning! Wait until there's a million posts! Then you'll be able to read all the books I recommend and never have to socialize to get new titles. I'm getting the weirdest feeling that you actually socialize for more than just books...Well, here's another book anyway.

I recently finished a book called The Day of the Predator by Alex Scarrow of the TimeRiders series book 2 of 7(?) I think it might still be in the authing, so maybe there are more than 7 books in the series. You might want to read the first one first though( TimeRiders), that would make this one make a lot more sense.

I'm going to summarize now!: Okay, I should probably say a little bit about the first book. The first book in the series was all about how three teenagers from different times were rescued by an old man seconds from death. Liam from the Titanic (always need a little Titanic in a time travel book ). Maddy from a plane crash in 2010. And Sal from a fire in 2026. then they had to go and correct time, along with there support unit Bob, from this dude who changed history because apparently he thought it would be better if Hitler won WWII. Oh, and then something else bad happens and New York turns into a mutant-infested radioactive wasteland. Oh yeah.

So the second book is about how the inventor of time travel is the object of an assassination attempt, and when Liam and the new support unit, Becks, try to save him, there's an explosion. They and a group of students and teachers are thrown waaaay back in time allllll the way to dinosaur times. But here's the dramatic thing: There are these highly intelligent dinosaur things learning how to use spears and make fire and stuff...the resulting time wave = a jungle New York full of these dinosaur things that have replaced man.

Reviewing time!!!!: This book was pretty okay. I mean, it had a great story line, it was interesting, it made sense, and was overall a fantastic read! But, I don't know, it's like you come to expect people getting killed and then it's not suspenseful anymore. Don't get me wrong, I loved the book!!! But maybe a little less being lured away to your death, and a little more living to fight another day would be a good thing. P.S. It's not too graphic so the squeamish need not be afraid.

Words for the characters.

Becks: Thanks for downloading some humor files! They make you much more fun to be around than Bob! (But Bob is cool too.)

Maddy: Bad words are not as cool as you'd like to think, try practicing not saying them.

Sal: I like your hair, who did it?

Liam: Don't worry, the white streak makes you look more distinguished.

So yeah, that's pretty much it. Join me next time for a little aftermath-of-a-scavenger-hunt!!!!!!!!! See you then!!!!

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star...girl

Hey y'all! Fantastic day we're having isn't it? I'm breathing, was reading, who could ask for more? News flash: It's officially the most wonderful time of the year!!!!!!!! I've seen three Christmas commercials! Only 53 more days!! I could probably read 21-30 books in that time depending on the length and interest-level. I should probably get started now!

Sooooo I just finished Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli. I thought about it almost the entire time I was folding my laundry. I discovered only one thing: Stargirl reminds me of me. Next to an "ordinary" person I'm very "unusual" but next to Stargirl, I'm the one who's ordinary. Maybe there's a little Stargirl in everyone. If everyone is different, how can anyone be ordinary after all?

Summaryish: So the book is narrated in the second person by this guy named Leo. He collects porcupine neckties and likes to sleep with the moon shining on him. So when this new girl comes to the school, after being homeschooled her entire life, everything changes. You know why? Because Stargirl showed up in a pioneer dress with a ukulele and a rat. She dances in the rain, cheers for both teams at any sports event, and genuinely cares about others. But not everyone likes her and a lot of people try to change her.

Review: Oh, Mr. Spinelli you've done it again. Pretty great book in my opinion. I can never look at the world the same way again. No seriously. I'm going to have to change my entire life-style for the better just because I read this one book. It was super amazing! The way it was told was unique and intriguing. There weren't any explosions, but the book may have actually been better for the lack of said explosions.

Words for the characters:

Stargirl: Rock on. Just...rock on.

Everyone else: You could learn a lot from Stargirl. Caring about others is the best way to care for yourself! Smiling actually does improve your health you know. It's been scientifically proven. Look a little closer at everything around you, the big things may be big, but they are made of the little things.

So yeah that's my review of Stargirl There's a sequel titled Love, Stargirl I will most likely get it as soon as possible! Unless I forget, which may happen.

IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD! Wait, no it's not. It's The Dead and the Gone!

Hey everyone! Wow, can you believe it's already been, like, four days since my first post? It seems like it was just yesterday that I was being grossed out by Shylock's want for human flesh. And now here we are more than a half a week later talking about the end of the world. Well I'm typing and you're reading.

So at 12:54 this morning I closed The Dead and the Gone by Susan Beth Pfeffer and laid it on the top of my "done" pile. I thought all about the book for the seven minutes between when I finished it and when my radio began playing this gorgeous nocturne by Johann Strauss and I was too distracted to continue my musings. While I was thinking I discovered two things, one: I would be a great person to have around at the end of the world because I've read so many books about that very thing and know how to survive. And two: I like sleeping without pillows underneath my head.

Summaryish: So this is the second book in what I believe is a trilogy, the first book Life as We Knew It, was about a girl named Marina in Pennsylvania trying to survive after an asteroid hits our dear friend the moon and knocks it out of orbit. This is not good because it messes up the gravitational pull and causes tidal waves, floods, volcanic eruptions and all kind of problems. But the ash from all the volcanoes blots out the sun and all the crops fail and there is mass chaos!!!! The second book, which I just finished, was pretty much the same thing except it was about Peurto Rican New Yorker Alex Morales and his sisters. But since New York is near the ocean it's even more dangerous for him than it was for Marina!

Review: Woohoo! My favorite part! I thought this book was great!!! I liked how it was so real and scientifically plausible. Although I do think it would take a lot more than an asteroid to upset the moon's orbit. Gravity beats asteroid any day! Anyway, back to my review. My favorite part was when the tree branch fell. It was so fitting! (When you read the book you'll know what I'm talking about.) If I could change anything, I would make it just a touch faster, it starts out slow and your heart only gets pumping every once in while. But I have to admit, while you're reading this you'll be happy you are, but when you stop to, like, eat and do work and stuff, you won't get anything done because you'll be worrying about the characters!!!!!

Words for the characters:

Alex; lighten up! I know it's the end of the world and you're starving and your sisters are depending on you and all, but that doesn't mean you can't at least smile at Julie once in a while. She needs your moral support because teenage years are fragile, and the world just shattered them. And it does seem that you like Bri better...

Julie; In the words of Lemony Snicket:    "When someone has disappointed you, [...], it is often difficult to decide whether to continue their acquaintance, even if the disappointers have done noble things in the meantime. There are some who say that you should forgive everyone, even the people who have disappointed you immeasurably. There are others who say you should not forgive anyone, and should stomp off in a huff no matter how many times they apologize. Of these two philosophies, the second one is of course much more fun, but it can also grow exhausting to stomp off in a huff every time someone has disappointed you, as everyone disappoints everyone eventually, and one can’t stomp off in a huff every minute of the day.”
Give your feet a break, girlie, and give your brother a chance to correct himself.

Bri; Your faith is outstanding! Up until the very end you kept on believing in God and that kept you going! Rock on!

Kevin; Thanks for the comic relief, I really appreciated it. Too much drama can make your stomach clench.

I'm pretty excited about the next book! I'm going to get it just as soon as the library has it available! Something is telling me Alex and Marina are going to meet up in the thrilling conclusion...Correction: that something was my fantastic aunt when she told me about this series.

The Merchant Of Venice; My First Review!

Question: How do you start a blog? More importantly: how do you start a book review blog. Even more importantly: How do I start my book review blog? What is qualified as a book? A magazine? A short story? A play? Okay. I've decided if it has more than 100 words, and I read it, I will review it. Oh, and only if it's fiction. Back to my original question: How about with a little Shakespeare?

Okie dokie. I recently read a play entitled The Merchant of Venice by, you guessed it, William Shakespeare. I think I can say without question that he is the most popular playwright around. But then again, I may be wrong.

Let's start with an overview: So there's this dude named Bassanio, charming fella, and he's hoping to win the heart of this girl named Portia. Here's the problem: Her daddy died, and in his will he said that the person who is going to marry his beloved daughter has to first pick one box out of three that has her picture in it. Pick incorrectly and that guy can't marry anyone. Ever. But back to Bassanio. So he's a little short on cash, and his friend Antonio signs a contract for him with a Jewish loan shark named Shylock. Plot twist: Shylock hates Antonio and decided that if he can't pay him back in three months, a pound of the flesh nearest his heart is to be cut out by Shylock. Don don dooooooon. I'm not going to give away anything else. I may have already given away too much as it is, but I am against spoilers, so I'm going to go right into the review now.

Review: Man, I love Shakespeare. The way he writes is mystifying! It's like every time he writes a play, it's made up of a bunch of little stories that all intertwine with one another. Reading it you think that he must have been plotting it out for months. So detailed. Well, not in the "he said, she said" kind of way, there's not even that many stage directions, but the story itself is very well thought out. It held my attention well; I finished it in less than a day! Oh, and don't be afraid!! Shakespeare isn't nearly as hard to read as some people think! The "Thees" and "Thous" are simple to understand. It's just when his, shall we say, "less bright" characters mess up their words that it gets confusing.

Words for the characters:

Okay, Shylock, let's face it. You need a little help. I know you hate Christians and all, but seriously, what are you going to do with a pound of flesh?

Portia, darling, I admire how perspicacious you are! You are so smart! Be my best friend forever? Maybe you'll rub off on me.

Antonio, I have to say it, neither a borrower nor a lender be. Your daddy said that. Or at least the person who made you exist. Same goes to Bassanio, for loan oft loses both itself and friend. Believe it or not, that wasn't in the play!!!

So...yeah. That's all I have to say about that. Bye-bye until next time! I hope you love my blog!!!!!!!! I'll be writing every time I feel like it. Or remember. Whichever comes first!

Yours most sincerely,
