Howdy howdy darling reader! Surprised to hear from me? I posted only yesterday, and here I am already reviewing another book. I am just so tickled to have over 240 pageviews already!!! I love it when you look at my blog! I feel so popular. Especially because some of those people aren't even from America where I am!! Hello people from China, Saudi Arabia, Germany and the United Kingdom! How are things on the other side of the ocean? I should probably review a book now.
So I just finished this book called Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment by James Patterson. Maybe you've heard of him? I read his "About the Author" and apparently he's pretty popular. Anyways. This book is the first part of the Fugitives series, also known as "Maximum Ride" (Which is a person, not an experience). If you would like to purchase it, try clicking right about here.
Summaryish: You know the drill, this paragraph isn't going to be very helpful because, like every book I read, it's full of secrets and conspiracies. I will do my best. Here I go...This book is about a girl named Max and her five friends, all between the ages of 6 and 14. They're just regular kids, you know. Chilling out and fighting and stuff. But here's the catch (Why is there always a catch?): They have wings. And they're not fighting each other, they're fighting crazy dog people and the scientists who created them. Yeah, that's right. They had bird DNA grafted into them. Pretty cool, I know, but it causes lots of problems. Like when the youngest member of there "flock" is kidnapped. Anyways, like good friends they go off to rescue her with lots of interesting things happening in between. Then they end up in New York for reasons I cannot tell you. Spoilers, what are you going to do?
Review: Welcome! It is once again time for my review!! I have just one thing to say: Awesometatiousfulicious. (I sooooo just gave away my identity, I'm the only person I know who says that.) I absolutely love this book!! I am going to write the titles of the rest of the books in the series on my To Read list, and once I finish reading them all, I will explore the rest of Mr. Patterson's books. I love the sciencefictionyness of it all!! It's got everything: DNA, wings, dog-people, mad scientists, betrayal, lies, plans that fail, plans that succeed, plans that don't follow through, it even has cookies!!! One last thing: I don't know why, but the ever-present sarcastic air and never ending witty humour really make me feel at home with this book. Like I can just fall right into the pages and start discovering my genetically engineered talents with the rest of them. Home, sweet home.
Words to the Characters:
Max: You remind me of me...you know, without the wings.
Fang: I'm getting this weird feeling that you wanted to stay with the hawks, and you are sad you left. There there. I would have liked to stay with the hawks too.
Iggy: I love how you don't let your blindness get in your way! Super hearing rocks!
Nudge: Don't worry, I talk a lot too, it's normal for people to tell you to be quiet. Don't take it to heart.
Gazzy: I think it's cool how your full name has the word "the" in it. I should start calling myself The Xxxxxx X. Xxxxxx.
Angel: Mind powers all the way!!! Woo!
Okay, I'm done for today, unless I finish the next book in my pile later today. I'll still probably wait till tomorrow to review it though. I hope the suspense doesn't kill you! Bye!
Xxxxxx X. Xxxxxx
